Functions in Mathcad

Mathcad contains functions of two types: built-in and user functions. The number of built-in functions in Mathcad comes to 300. They can be entered from the keyboard or with help of the Functions Wizard, which is activated after pressing the “hot keys” CTRL+E, with help of the pictographic sign f(x) or menu Insert, Function The dialogue box Insert Function, is displayed, and it is possible to choose the required function and assign its arguments. Some functions can also be entered with help of the operators of the tool bar “Mathematics”.

To enter the user function one has to input its name, after that its arguments are listed in brackets, arguments are parted with commas. Then the colon equal symbol is input, after which comes the expression which defines the way the function itself looks.

 If the value of the argument of the goniometric function (sin, cos, tg) is given in a degree form, it is required to change it into the radian form, which is done with help of the deg function.

In order to perform calculations in Mathcad it is required to take into account the following peculiarities. Computation in Mathcad is done from left to right and top-down.
